A few weeks back.. Nelly of Naija brand Chick pulled off one of the most successful Nigerian Trade Fair in London. Loystar had to be there, especially to support one of Loystar’s top fashion brand – HOPE fashion by Kiki Okewale. While the vendors enjoyed a massive turn out.. I couldn’t help but notice some opportunity to capture more value from the already excited buyers. So here are 7 Things You Can Do for a Successful Trade Fair Exhibition… you should try them in your next outing.
- First on the list… Have a Re-Stock Plan Be prepared with extra inventory. You don’t want to miss out on sales because you ran out of products. Keep extra stock nearby, and replenish as needed. A few merchants that got this right.. Udyfoods, Kiki they had several big boxes of stock..you wonder if they would sell out.
- Which bring me to my 2nd point… If you do run out of stock early, strike a deal with other vendors. Sell their products for a commission to keep generating income for the time you have paid for. This could also apply if you overstocked.
- 3. Tip number 3: Don’t miss out on Video shopping and marketing, if you have the capacity share a live video of what is happening at your stand. Your online customers don’t want to order as well. We’ve got a plug for this, send us a DM if you want to unlock more value from Video Shopping/ marketing
- Prioritize Product Safety, Quality and Hygiene. Ensure your products are stored properly, and don’t compromise on quality. Whether it’s fragile items, electronics, or food, maintaining high standards will leave a lasting impression.
- Take Samples or Demos to the Crowd If foot traffic slows, don’t just wait—take the initiative! Walk around with samples, demonstrations, or flyers, and pitch directly to attendees. Engaging with them personally can boost your conversion rate.
- Get Extra Help Running a booth can be overwhelming, so bring in family, friends, or volunteers to assist. This ensures you’re not stretched too thin and can focus on delivering great customer service.
- This last one is my favourite, capture Customer contact. Not all customers would attend a fair are ready to buy that moment, but will buy later. Do you have an efficient way to save their details amidst all the hustle of the fair? You need technology for this one.. Imagine, you are attending to a customer and a group of 5 other people stop at your stand, looking interested, but are not patient enough to wait for you. They could take a flyer if you do have one..but we all know what happens to most flyers…. An effective solution here is a barcode that can help you engage your customers and get their details.. You can have a WhatsApp Me barcode, a shop link or website QR code, a Raffle draw QRcode, a loyalty program barcode, a referral barcode , a mailing list one e.t.c each of this barcode would help you capture the customers as potentials leads, which you can nurture later to convert. This helps build relationships beyond the fair. If you need one of these QR codes for a fair, the Loystar POS provides one for Free. Login to your account and download it. PRint it and display it at different points at your stand.
I hope this helps a vendor outside, it’s the end of the year, and is also time for shopping and lots of sales and fairs. Don’t leave money on the table.
